Around two hundred and thirty years ago, the castle was built by Shahpura-Shekhawat royalty and was a site of cultural heritage in the township of Bhishangarh. Falling into ruins, the fort was abandoned for several years and silence prevailed in its premises. Who could have thought that the royal stay of mighty kings would be left to be haunted by bats, birds, and insects? Ritu Khandelwal- the architect mind behind the rugged fortress describes the thesis behind the newly born structure. The material for construction was transported uphill on the back of 200 donkeys, as the fort had no transportation facility. All rooms were so dissimilar in architecture that the fort had to feature different layouts in the interior designing.
